What's New For The 2019 Chevy Silverado?

It was just last December that Chevy released the 2019 Silverado model in honor of the 100-year anniversary of the first Chevy truck ever made. This is a model that has been on the market for a number of years. This year there are many updates that are contributing to making this a front runner in the truck market. It is looking like 2019 is going to be a very successful year for Chevrolet and the 2019 Silverado. Ford is bringing an updated F-150 to the market this year. Ram has its 1500 to compete with. Let's take a closer look at some of the features of the 2019 Silverado.

What Are The Trims & Features For The 2019 Chevy Silverado?

Among the trim levels available on the new Silverado there is more space in each option. The truck itself has an addition 1.6 inches while the wheelbase has 3.9 more inches. The back seat sees most of the room in the crew cab trim level. The extended cab trim levels had additional space throughout. The cabins are all very quiet compared to previous years.

Prior to taking a look at the power that is available under the hood, the interior of the Silverado stands out as being very comparable to previous years and competitors. The infotainment system is very simple to use and learn. There is a nice audio system included in all of the trim levels.

The Power Under the Hood!

2019 Chevy SilveradoThe standard engine in the 2019 Chevy Silverado is a 2.7-liter, DOHC turbo engine with 16-valve direct injection. This engine provided 310 horsepower in its original testing along with 348 pound-feet of torque. This new engine option also includes a double-volute turbocharger that allows for an instant throttle response. Airflow is sent through two different scroll shapes that are opposite of the turbine wheel. This allows for avoidance of interference.

The new engine option for the 2019 Chevy Silverado includes cylinder deactivation on two of the cylinders. There is also dynamic cam timing that is based off of various power needs. Three different lift profiles are available as part of the Tri Power lineup that includes low-power, high-power and deactivation. An electric water pump will reduce any drag that is present on the power system.

There is also a V8 engine option that features the newest Dynamic Fuel Management system. This includes cylinder deactivation with 17 different profiles. These changes can be made every 12.5 milliseconds to adapt to driving conditions.

Safety

2019 Chevy SilveradoThe Chevy Silverado has received stellar safety ratings for many years now. This 2019 model is looking to be just as safe as previous models. Test results have shown very high performance when it comes to things like:

  • Overlap front test results
  • Side impact test results
  • Rear crash protection
  • Roof Strength
  • Headlight clarity

This is a truck that will work well for a number of purposes. People can use this vehicle to tow plenty of weight behind their vehicle. It is also safe enough and comfortable enough that it can be a family vehicle.

There are a number of safety features that come standard on the Silverado this year. There are also many optional features that can be added on as well. This includes:

  • Standard driver air bag
  • Standard passenger air bag
  • Standard front head air bag
  • Standard rear head air bag
  • Standard front side air bag
  • Four-wheel anti-lock braking system
  • Four-wheel disc brakes
  • Stability control
  • Daytime running lamps
  • Front tow hooks
  • Traction control
