250 Candles Blown-Out by the Corvette for America's Birthday at Indianapolis

The United States is commemorating its 250-year milestone this year, and Chevrolet chose the stage of the Indianapolis 500 to mark the occasion. The brand visited the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 23, 2026, to celebrate the long-standing connection between the automaker and the country.

Chevrolet in Indianapolis to Celebrate America's 250th

Attendees at the Indianapolis 500 witnessed a creative trackside demonstration from Chevrolet. The exhibition featured 250 large, burning candles stationed along the speedway. Software engineer Cody Bulkley took the wheel, leveraging the car's extreme power to blow out all 250 candles in an exceptionally fast time.

The Vice President of Global Chevrolet highlighted the cultural pride underlying the demonstration. "Resilience, pride, and work ethic of America have driven our nation forward for 250 years. For nearly 115 years, Chevrolet has been ingrained in America's story," Bell stated. Reflecting on the vehicle's heritage, Bell added, "Corvette has long been a symbol of the American dream, so it is a privilege to celebrate this moment at the Racing Capital of the World by having Corvette ZR1X blow out 250 candles in a display of power and precision."

The manufacturer has planned a variety of celebrations for America's birthday this year. This includes the rollout of the limited Stars & Steel Collection, showcasing excellent local design and build standards. They have also generated excitement with a revised "See the USA in your Chevrolet" campaign that puts a contemporary twist on the classic 1950s jingle. The automaker will spend the remaining months of the year honoring its past while driving forward with precision engineering.
