Corvette EV Officially In The Works

GM has just announced that they are officially working on a Corvette electric car. The fully electric vehicle is expected to hit the market in the future. Still, the president of GM, Mark Reuss, alluded to a 2023 release of a hybrid Corvette. It is excellent news for consumers looking for an environmentally friendly option when it comes to sports cars.

The Ultium Platform

The Ultium Platform is a system that recovers energy. It promises to heat the interior of the car using the battery, boost range, speed charging time, and increase acceleration. This system is currently used in the Hummer EV and used in other GM cars such as the Cadillac Lyriq.

The platform uses electric motors with 400-volts and can DC fast-charge at up to 250 kW.

You can wire the Hummer's 400-volt packs to emulate an 800-volt battery while charging.

The engine is connected to a two-speed transmission. The goal of this setup is to make the Corvette's 0 to 60 times under three seconds.

Recharging the battery will take about 10 minutes to add 100 miles with a 350-kW charger.

GM can use the Ultium platform for FWD, RWD, and AWD applications. The platform is also scalable, which means they can use it for multiple-size vehicles.
