Huzzah! The Arizona Renaissance Festival is upon us once more, bringing eight weeks of medieval merriment and revelry to the Valley. The annual faire runs on weekends from now until April 2, 2017, so dust off your tunics and gowns—or your velvet and crowns if you’re feeling royal—and get ready to party like its 1599!
The Renaissance Festival is one of the most popular springtime events in the Phoenix-area, attracting around 270,000 attendees each year! The medieval amusement park includes a 30-acre village with 200 craft shops, 13 entertainment stages, a large jousting arena and plenty of food, drink and game stalls. Plus, there are over 2,000 costumed actors bringing it all to life. Guests are also encouraged to come dressed up and ready to add to the mayhem—if you don’t already own an appropriate costume, you can rent one from the festival!
From enjoying festive eats like turkey legs and steak-on-a-stake to spectating a variety of medieval comedy and skill shows, there’s plenty of one-of-a-kind experiences to be had here. Here are some of the more notable attractions to look for:
- The Artisan Market
- Tournament jousting
- Clan Tynker Circus
- The Living Fountain
- Sword swallowing
- Glass blowing demonstrations
- Blacksmith demonstrations
Tickets start at $22 for advanced general admission, which can be purchased online here or at your local Fry’s food store. Parking at the faire is completely free! We hope you have a royally good time at the faire!
